The whole of Uttar Pradesh has seen significant growth in the EV segment, contributing 18% to the national EV sales.
According to data shared by ride-hailing platform Uber India, electric vehicles in Uttar Pradesh accounted for more than 92 percent of the total number of vehicles in 2024, a sharp jump from 77 percent the previous year. In Lucknow alone, 3,572 electric cars were sold,
On the other hand, cities such as Kanpur and Agra have also made significant progress. In Kanpur, electric vehicle sales soared from 3.2% of total sales in 2020 to more than 88% in 2024. Agra, which had no electric vehicles in 2020, now has 1,811 electric vehicles compared to 128 CNG vehicles in 2024. “More than 60 percent of our new supply comes from electric vehicles, not CNGS,” an Uber spokesperson said.
